Belly dance DVD reviews (Learning belly dance through DVDs)

Belly dance DVDs are a very good tool to help belly dancers to learn new moves, get new ideas or inspiration. It is possible to learn a lot from a good belly dance DVD, but if you are a total beginner, it is better to always attend some lessons with a teacher. The reason being that you can interact with a dance teacher and she can correct you if she thinks you are not performing your belly dance moves right, or if your posture is not correct.

It is difficult to judge these things by yourself, when you have no previous experience of a particular type of dance, and bellydance is not an exception.

However, good belly dance DVDs are very useful tools for deepening a dancer’s understanding of belldance. Nowadays, you can find a lot of belly dance DVDs available on Amazon, which really provides an ample Belly dance DVDchoice of belly dance DVDs, CDs and books. It can be though a bit daunting to try and choose the right DVD among the many available.

I have watched myself a few and so far I have found very useful The Heartbeat of belly dance with Jenna and Raquy. This belly dance instructional DVD impressed me for the clarity with which belly dancer Jenna breaks down and explains every move. This is a DVD suitable especially, in my opinion, for belly dancers of intermediate level.
Another good belly dance DVD I have watched is Visual Melodies by Hossam and Serena Ramzy. The way Serena dances is a great inspiration for every belly dancer, although the instructional part is more suited for advanced belly dancers. I will have a look at these DVD's. I quite like the series by Jillina, but what I'd really like to find is a DVD to use for routine practice - not necessarily to learn something new, just a thorough class which I can use when I'm travelling or not able to get to regular class. Any suggestions?
